No you’re not experiencing De Ja’Vu! You’ve seen this fit’ before. Quite recently actually in “Street Suit!” Only it was a lot wetter outside so I was wearing different shoes, I used my rain jacket for a Blazer & I’m not wearing a T-Shirt underneath, only a Tank Top. The perfect fit for business & pleasure! And by pleasure I mean riding around and gettin’ it on my bike! You can’t live this lifestyle sagging fellas’. No sir ree! So tailor it up! Yeah, I love this time of year! I wonder if Green Fleet is riding tomorrow? I sure hope so. “#BikeSelfieNashville” is back! “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
SHOES: Cole Haan Zerogrand Wingtips $300 | JEANS: Express Alec Quilted Denim Moto Skinny Jeans $120 | SHIRT: Banana Republic Oxford $20 (SALE) | BLAZER: Target by Mossimo $60 | TIE: Macy’s by M151 $10 | BIKE: JC Penny’s VINTAGE!
Happy Monday fellas’! Today I just have a few errands. So I’m throwing on my Zerogrands, a nice pair of Moto Denim Jeans, and a Moto inspired jacket to complete the rugged look of a man on a mission! Time for V-Necks and Rosaries guys. OH! And I had to drop the top too. No more Afro Samurai for me. LoL “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
SHOES: Cole Haan Zerogrand Chukkas $300 | JEANS: Express Alec Quilted Moto Skinny Jeans $120 | SHIRT: Haynes V-Neck $15 Pack) | JACKET: Macy’s by GRAY Moto Jacket $80
Welcome to “Street Suit” part 2! If you were with us during the last Style Tip then you know that this is the same outfit just organized in a different color. The garments are different, but the pieces to the puzzle are the same. Just take that rain jacket and rock it like you would a Blazer & replace those slacks with a nice pair of jeans. Don’t forget to make sure that the tie hits just above the belt buckle (This is the same belt from SS1, just in reverse) and because common sense ain’t common, you match your belt to your shoes. Oh and if you are a male then chances are you know that when it comes to finding the Holy Grail that is the perfect White Dress Shirt, the struggle is REAL! LoL However, I am definitely impressed with this one. A nice slim fit, comfortable fabric, & the collar which is shorter/thinner than the average, has proven to be a good look. I actually had some one tell me, “NICE SUIT” today! So mission accomplished 😉 “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
BOOTS: Cole Haan Lunargrand Boots $300 l JEANS: GAP En Noir Moto Jeans $80 l SHIRT: Express No Button Dress Shirt $30 l TIE: Macy’s by M151 $10 l BELT: Ross $12 l JACKET: Target by Converse $40
A couple of rare details today. I’m wearing a tie AND I buttoned the top button! LoL I don’t know, I was just feeling a bit Dapper today. So I reached for my Black, M-1 Skinny Tie ($10) from Macy’s and coupled it with my Merona, Plaid Button-Up from Target ($25). Then I finished it with my Maroon, GAP Merona Shawl Sweater($20 SALE) and Gray, Mossimo Blazer ($70. Of course I’m wearing Zerogrands ($278) and I chose my Khaki, Express Joggers ($40 SALE) to add a bit of edge. “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
Well, it’s our first snow round these parts and I for one welcome it with open arms! No sunshine though. Nope, not a single drop. It’s so, it’s so…GRAY.
Breaking out some old friends of mine today. My gray, Supras! Haven’t worn these bad boys in at least 2 years, because my style has changed so much. I actually gave away the majority of my Supra collection, leaving me with only 2 pairs. It’s obvious why I kept these. They don’t come off too childish and they look great with gray! They’re not as comfortable as my Cole Haans, but you have to switch it up every now & then. I also love the ruggedness of these kicks. They just fit harsh weather so well. $100
Gray day, gray shoes, gray jeans! I got these gray, Levi’s from Macy’s a few years ago. Definitely one of my favorite pair of jeans. They are super comfortable and have a nice slim silhouette. But, hey, if anyone knows how to construct a nice pair of jeans it’s Mr. Levi. $40
Gray day, gray shoes, gray jeans, gray tee, gray sweater…maybe I’ll start a new Trend!? Better yet, a Staple! It’s like Matte Black for clothing! This is one of my favorite Merona sweaters draped over my favorite, Converse, T-shirt. I call it my “Thor Sweater” because of the seemingly chain metal arms. Plus it has that “Heroic Collar” that ya’ll know I LOVE! #NoScarfZone $30
Top it all off with my Navy, Top Coat from Express and my Gray, Banana Republic vest and you’ve got a deal! LoL “Rock-Hop Tailored” baby! Coat $278 Vest $40 (sale)
Well, time to work your way to work. LoL Good luck and remember, Life isn’t Black & White 😉 #Fin.
I’m a boss I said, tip my hat and I cross my legs. LoL I don’t wear ties often, but when I do…
You know the drill. Fresh pair of Zerogrands. I use to rock certain fits with a tennis shoe that had a thick white sole, but that has been replaced with these! Same effect, more refined. Every man needs a black shoe with a white sole. $278
For the pants, one can’t go wrong with the Express Photographer pants. Never know when you may have a shoot fellas…if you know what I mean? $50
Then of course there is the shirt, tie, and vintage, leather, bomber jacket! The tie is M151, Macy’s, the shirt is an Oxford from Banana Republic, and the bomber is courtesy of my grandfather, Lord rest his soul. Thanks pops! He had plenty of Style just like me. As if you can’t tell. LoL Every man also needs a decent bomber. You can substitute your suit coat with it. Free-your-mind Neo. LoL I prefer to let the Tie hang loose and I never button my top button, Personal Style…remember? Tie $10 Oxford $30 Bomber $Priceless (Remember, Men’s fashion is about Character. The older the better.)
And finally don’t forget the EXCESSORIES! A nice clean belt and watch really complete the look. Now you’re ready for the office or to fight aliens, which ever comes first. Belt (Ross) $12 Watch (Kenneth Cole) $150
I’ll holla. #Fin.
Gotta get up, get out, and get something! It’s Labor Day, not to be confused with Memorial Day or Independence Day, the 3 of which I have always thought to be the same day just split into 3 so that people have an excuse to drink, grill, swim, and RELAX! But the days do have different meanings and characters to them. It’s also infamously the last day to wear white which has lost its power really. I feel that Labor Day Is all about relaxing from laboring hence “Labor Day. ” So style wise I always try to just relax.
From my relaxing “Ones“….
To my relaxing jeans…
To my relaxing T-shirt…
It’s all about RELAXING! The key is to find a few not so relaxed “EXCESSories.”
And what better EXCESSories than shades and a SUPER belt!? This is one of my favorites! Don’t even remember where I got it, but it’s always an attention grabber. It’s just very regal and looks handmade. You get a sense of medieval times. I LOVE IT! Style wise it breaks up the monotony of the white. Not necessary, but this was my choice for today. I could have went without it and been even more relaxed.
Well, I’m off to find some sales. Happy Labor Day! #JPSKILLZStyleTip
Today…we’re going back in time…today…we’re going BACK TO THE FUTURE!
Nothing says Past, Present, & Future like a pair of fresh Chucks‘! $10
The pants are the burgundy, brethren of my Levi, Denizen collection! Hey, what can I say, good jeans are good jeans. You saw the white & gray in previous posts. These are Skinny Jeans, but with a 33 inch waist. $30
And finally there’s the T’! 2 things to note here: 1. Every man should have a few, what I call, “Poster Board T’s.” You know, like the super ones you find at Target or vintage boutiques? Plus they give you a chance to share a bit of your personality. They’re just good for being relaxed yet still edgy. 2. When wearing a Poster Board T’ remember to downplay the shoes. You want the attention to go to the graphic. A lot like a…yep…POSTER. $12
Happy Monday gentleman! Look alive! Monday comes with its own struggles, but Style shouldn’t be one of them. I make it a point to be fresh on Monday. I believe it just helps one to get motivated. Colors are a large part of Mood.
Black, Lunargrand boots are my launch pad! Usually a dark shoe & light pants shorter pant is very shortening, but gray is in the dark family as well as the light. That’s why it’s considered the middle ground. So it actually works quite well. $200
The pants are the gray version of the white Levi’s I wore in a previous post. Got them both on the same day! I wish I had went with a shorter length, but they fit well and give me some variety which is always good. Got em’ from Macy’s on sale! $30
Now. Let’s talk shirt & details. The shirt is Express…SIIIIKE! LoL It’s actually from Forever 21! a part of the Heritage 1981 collection! Remember, “It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to look that way!” The yellow really picks the Mood of the outfit up and the cut of the stitching is perfect for Nashville! I call it, “TAILORED COUNTRY!” LOL $20 The tie is from Macy’s as well, it’s M151 and it’s a Super Skinny Tie $10. While the belt is from Ross and is reversible. Remember, “every man needs a black and brown belt $12. The key to the tie is making sure it stops just above the belt buckle and right on top of the button. Why would you cover the focal point of your outfit? No need to have a gaudy center piece either fellas. The huge belt buckle has came and GONE! LoL Keep it simple.
Welp! See you tomorrow! Ya’ll come back now, ya hear!? #JPSKILLZStyleTip
Labor Day Isn’t here yet. So white is still acceptable. At least according to traditional thoughts on fashion.
Now there’s not a pool in site, but I’m still POOLSIDE with my Poolside, Cole Haan Lunargrand Wingtips! You know the story, but the colorway will cause any shoe enthusiast to become sea sick! LoL Just a great summertime hue! $200
Put a roll in my white, Levi, Skinny Jeans from Macy’s & I’m ready for high waters! Remember, not too high, we’re not going to the beach. LoL $50
They lovin’ the crew! My favorite t-shirt is perfect to match the gray soles of my Lunargrands. A very light weight fabric produced by Converse from Target. It definitely brings the white & grey together. Remember when you have a dominant shoe…let it dominate. Scottie new when to move and let MJ do his thing.
Well that’s it for this week. “Go & Love young man…go & love.”
